"Rome Hotel: Hotel Galeno
in the centre of Rome"
Hotel Galeno is a
2 stars hotel in Rome located just a few steps from the
historical Porta Pia, one of the last most important
Michelangelo’s works of art which was the stage of the famous
Porta Pia Breach, by the Italian army, in 20 September
1870.
The surrounding quarter is very quiet and safe,
far from urban noise but, at the same time, it offers a
strategic starting point for your visit throughout the eternal
city.
In the proximities of the Hotel there some of the
most important foreign embassies in Italy. The area is even
headquarters of some important Italian Ministries such as the
Ministry of Public Works and Transports, very next to the
hotel, and the Ministry of Finance, in Via 20
Settembre.
At a five minutes walking from Hotel Galeno
there are two of the main Roman Universities, La Sapienza and
the Luiss University, in Via Pola. For its strategic position,
Hotel Galeno is even a good starting point not only for
Italian and foreign tourists but even for businessmen,
students and professors visiting Italian Universities. 10
minutes from the Hotel there is the important general hospital
Umberto I.
From Hotel Galeno you can reach, walking or
by bus ( 490 or 495) Villa Borghese Park where there are the
famous Borghese Gallery ( you need a reservation for visiting
the museum), the National Gallery of Modern Art, the African
museum of Zoology, the British Academy, the National Museum of
Villa Giulia and the zoological garden. From Via dei Villini,
where we are, a short walk will bring you to Villa Torlonia
where there is the famous hoot owls house, good example of
liberty architecture, recently redecorated. It is now a
museum.
For dinner, there are many restaurants in the
nearby but if you are in mind to enjoy the true Roman kitchen,
you can go to Trastevere, by bus number 3 from Piazza
Galeno.
