"As a vice president at a large luxury hotel company, I spend a great deal of time in wonderful hotels. For our vacation in Rome this year, my husband and I chose Hotel Des Artistes after searching the web for hotels that looked charming, and yet offered value for our Canadian dollars.

This is a great little place. The rooms are well appointed and restful to come home to after a long day of sight seeing. The subway and bus are so incredibly convenient that we only took one cab our entire stay.

We loved having latte and fresh bread on the roof terrace, and found the staff to be helpful and patient. We were delighted, after arriving early from a long overnight train ride from Sicily, to be offered breakfast while the maid prepaired our room.

As a bit of a hotel fanatic, I visited a number of the other hotels that we had considered staying in because they were closer to the historic centre. None were a fraction as nice and all were more expensive.

We will absolutely return to Hotel Des Artistes for our next vacation in Rome and I would wholeheartedly endorse this property. And by the way - the best pizza in Italy is right around the corner at the little shop half a block away!"

"I stayed at Des Artistes upon arriving in Rome. A very short walk from Termini and two subway stops to the Colosseum and Forum (the heart of Rome), this hotel is located in a surprisingly quiet neighbourhood. Our room was a nice size, clean, neat and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our luggage did not arrive with us. The staff at Des Artistes offered to call and check with the airline during the day, while we were out sight seeing. That provided some anxiety relief and our luggage finally made it.

Upon returing in Rome, I stayed at a hotel near the Spanish Steps. The room was small, the area noisey and the staff somewhat uninterested. The Des Artistes has my vote. It was the best room I had in all of Italy."
