The building was designed in 1576 by Domenico Fontana, an architect who worked for the Pope, and in 1873 it was transformed from the Mariani family into an inn for the purpose of accommodating the pilgrims visiting the holy places of Rome near to the VATICAN MUSEUM
Transformed in 1960 to Hotel , is located in Vicolo delle Palline 24, an old road known for its wood artisans' shops, just between

ST.PETER'S SQUARE and CASTEL SANT'ANGELO.

It is still managed by the same family and clients are given the utmost care and attention which is so typical of the old Roman hospitality.

The first floor houses a beautiful terrace, where clients can have their breakfast or, in the evening, enjoy a drink while admiring, just beside the hotel, the famous PASSETTO DI BORGO a.d. 864, an important wall connecting ST. PETER'S BASILICA to CASTEL SANT'ANGELO, which in ancient days was used by the Popes as a passageway in case of danger.
