The public transportation in the city of Rome is operated by the company ATAC ( ww.atac.it  ) through 4 metropolitan lines (A, B, B1 and C) and a network of buses and trams and through the rail link Rome - Ostia Lido.

The two main underground lines A and B connect the 4 crucial ends of the city. 

Line A starts from the Anagnina station (also connected to Rome Ciampino Airport) until Battistini station near the Vatican. Metro A also stops in important touristic point of interest including San Giovanni Basilica, Spanish Steps, Via Veneto, Piazza del Popolo, the Vatican and of course Termini Station where the line B  crosses.

Line B starts from the neighborhood of Rebibbia until Laurentina station in the modern Eur district. The Metro B was the first underground line of the capital and also in this case it connects places of public interest among which the Tiburtina Station, Termini Railway Station, Colosseum, Circus Maximus, the Pyramid in addition to connect with the railway line Rome - Ostia Lido.

The single fare ticket costs 1,50€ for a duration of 100 minutes and it allows to travel on the entire network.

However, there are other convenient options useful to visitors:

BIT (€ 1,50) valid for 100 minutes from the first stamping; for underground is applied to a single journey, even on multiple lines, while it can be used on different buses for the entire period

10-bit (€ 15,00) valid 100 minutes from the first validation. The ticket can be validated for 10 times even in different travel dates

Rome 24H (€ 7,00) valid for 24 hours from the first validation and for an unlimited number of journeys

Rome 48H (€ 12,50) valid for 48 hours from the first validation and for an unlimited number of journeys

Rome 72H (€ 18,00) valid 72 hours from the first validation and for an unlimited number of journeys

CIS (€ 24,00) valid for 7 days from the date of the first validation, until midnight of the seventh day and for an unlimited number of journeys

Tickets can be purchased at train stations, newsstands, tobacconists and authorized resellers
