Across the Tiber visit the Basilica of St Peter, center of Catholicism and the world’s largest church. See Michelangelo’s “Pietà”, Bernini’s ”Baldacchino”, the Papal altar and Michelangelo’s dome. Gilded ceilings and mosaics enhance the tomb of St Peter at the site of his martyrdom.
